KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad admitted that he failed to get support from the Sarawak Alliance Party (GPS) coalition because the coalition supported Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to report from Sin Chew Daily, Dr Mahathir said he had never met and had failed to contact Chief Minister of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg after the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government was formed by Muhyiddin.
"I never met him and couldn't even call him," he said.
The last time Dr Mahathir met Abang Johari was before the 'Sheraton Move' on 23 February.
He said that he was unaware that the GPS had changed their mind and support Muhyiddin.
"At that time, they expressed their 100 percent support but, when it was time to sign, they did not support me," he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir was asked if GPS would support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he said that People's Justice Party (PKR) president claimed he was backed by GPS, but he saw the party was backing Muhyiddin.
